LATEST TASTING

We have just tasted the COS LABORY 1997 and the ANDRON BLANQUET 1996, they are both drinking extremely well. The Andron Blanquet is big and chocolatey with masses of fruit, well balanced and complex. The Cos Labory is elegant, complex and well balanced with lovely ripe fruit. It is from a lighter vintage and is not excessively tannic as some St Estephe wines can be. Both wines have excellent cellaring potential. The crus are described in the panel below right.

Try a full bodied Saint Estephe as a change from the popular Pauillacs.

COS LABORY is a Grand Cru Classe under the direction of Bernard Audoy. He produces refined, elegant wines. The blend is 55% Cabernet Sauvignon, 35% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc. The wines are aged for 18 months in barriques, using 30-50% new oak each year.

ANDRON BLANQUET, a Cru Borgeois property, is also under the direction of Bernard Audoy. The grape mix is similar to COS LABORY, the wines are barrique aged with 20% new oak each year. This wine is superb value.
